Provident Fin profit drops on investment cost

LONDON (Reuters) - Provident Financial (PFG.L: Quote, Profile, Research) saw first-half profit drop 20 percent as it invested in its credit card business and start-ups in Mexico and Romania, but the consumer lender said UK conditions were improving.
