Visa signs $70m deal with Fifa

Credit card firm Visa says it has reached a deal to sponsor the 2010 and 2014 World Cup football tournaments. The eight-year $170m (£85m) deal with world governing body Fifa would be useful in "driving business" Visa said. It comes after Fifa paid rival credit card firm Mastercard $90m to settle a bitter sponsorship dispute. Call for card rate transparency

Credit card companies are to be encouraged to be more transparent about interest rate charges, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has said. The OFT said it wanted to work with the industry to make pricing simpler. In April, consumer group Which? lodged a "super complaint" with the OFT and asked it to investigate the market. BT moves into credit card market

Telecoms firm BT has launched a credit card with an automatic reward scheme which promises to reduce home telephone and broadband bills. Each time account holders use the BT card, money will be taken off their phone bill, up to a maximum £75 a year. For example, if customers spend £250 each month they will receive £1.25 off their phone or broadband bill.
