Bank hints at limited rate rises

The Bank of England has hinted that the inflation target of 2% may be hit more quickly than earlier thought, with only a limited interest rate rise needed. In its quarterly inflation report, the Bank said the target could be met if rates were at 5.1% early next year and 5.2% later in 2007. Analysts have been predicting a further rate rise to 5.25% from the current 5%. The Bank also said the outlook on growth was "slightly stronger" than it had tipped in August. China's industrial output grew at its slowest annual rate in almost two years in October, official figures show. Although production increased by 14.7% during the month from a year earlier, it was down from the 16.1% growth seen in September, the government said.
