ITV chief executive bows out under pressure

By Siobhan Kennedy LONDON (Reuters) - Charles Allen, the architect of the merger that created Britain's biggest commercial broadcaster ITV, stepped down as its chief executive on Tuesday, amid mounting pressure from investors over the group's performance. Allen will be replaced on an interim basis by Finance Director John Cresswell and the search for a permanent successor has already begun, ITV (ITV.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said in a statement.
