A man has been released from prison in Sri Lanka after being held on remand for 50 years without conviction. DP James was 30 years old when he was arrested for stabbing and wounding his father and sent to jail. He is now 80. He was moved to a psychiatric hospital shortly after entering prison in 1957, and returned to jail in the mid-1980s, where he seems to have been forgotten. A man has died after falling 1,600ft (487m) from a ridge on Helvellyn. David Burke, 41, from Newcastle, was out walking in a party of five people on the mountain, which is one of the Lake District's highest. It is the second death on Helvellyn in less than a week. The body of a 77-year-old woman found murdered in her rural Hampshire home was discovered by her son, police said. Georgina Edmonds was found at the house in Kiln Lane, Otterbourne, when he checked in on her on Friday evening. She had extensive head injuries. Iran has agreed to clarify all outstanding questions over its past nuclear activities within a month, the UN nuclear watchdog has announced.
