Unemployment in graphics

The employment rate for people of working age is 74.1%. While the national average for unemployment is now 6.5%, in some regions it is much higher. Among the worst hit are the North East of England (8.6%), the North West (7.7%), London (7.5%) and the West Midlands (7.9%).

Ireland kept alive their Grand Slam dream with a hard-fought win over Scotland at Murrayfield. The Scots led 12-9 at half-time as Chris Paterson traded penalties with Ireland's Ronan O'Gara, who became the leading Six Nations points scorer. Big Buck's got the better of Punchestowns in a thrilling finish to win the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. The 6-1 third favourite finished strongly to give Ruby Walsh and trainer Paul Nicholls another Festival success.
