December's gross mortgage lending in 2005 was up by 20 per cent compared to the same period last year, new figures reveal. LONDON (Reuters) - Approvals for home loans rose sharply in December from a year ago but by less than in recent months, bankers' data showed on Friday, evidence that a pickup in the housing market is stabilising.
