By David Jones LONDON (Reuters) - Scottish & Newcastle Plc (SCTN.L: Quote, Profile, Research) , Britain's biggest brewer, posted a 12 percent rise in first-half earnings but its UK margins suffered as the soccer World Cup encouraged a switch to take-home beers and larger pack sizes.
